Shotgun Extension Fit Guide

Measurements based on the length of the extension tube, as shown in the table below, should be taken from the front of the factory magazine with the magazine cap removed. Any extension extending past the muzzle will experience fouling build-up and finish wear/damage; extensions may extend up to 18″ beyond the muzzle (any resulting wear or damage is not covered by warranty).

Capacity is based on 2-3/4″ birdshot ammunition. Slug and Buckshot are usually longer than birdshot.

The extension tube cap will add approximately .200″ to the length of the extension tube.

All MXT tube kits are for 12 gauge shotguns only. MXT tubes have an outside diameter of 1.060″, and are machined from 6000-series aluminum with a matte black anodized finish.

NOTES
The BOH-BFB bolt handles requires the current version of the Benelli bolt with the oblong anti-rotation cutout around the bolt handle hole. Older Benellis without this cutout are compatible only with BOH-BN and BOH-VM.

The commercially-available M4 comes with a 5-round limited magazine from the factory. Nordic Components does not produce a compatible extension to bring the magazine to its 7-round full capacity. We recommend Dave’s Metal Works for the components required to bring the M4 to 7-round capacity (all 922(r) rules apply).

The M4 with a 7-round magazine will accept our BR extension tube nut (NUT-BR-12-00); this will allow any MXT extension kit to be used to add to the 7-round capacity.

FACTORY CAPACITY: The Mossberg 930/940 JM Pro Series shotguns come factory equipped with Nordic Components +4 (22″ barrel) or +5 (24″ barrel) magazine extensions. The capacity of the factory magazine without the extension is 4.

To expand the capacity of the JM Pro, the extension tube itself may be replaced with a different length, or an additional extension tube may be added with an MXT Coupler. The same extension nut and end cap may be reused, but a new spring will be required.

NOTE: Prior to 2016, Mossberg used our older EXT style extension tubes. These can be identified by the lack of a barrel clamp groove on the exterior of the extension tube. If your JM Pro has the older EXT tube, the existing extension nut can be reused, but a new end cap will be required if replacing the extension tube with a new MXT model. If using the MXT Coupler, the new MXT tube will have to connect to the extension nut; the existing EXT tube can be used attached to the coupler with the existing end cap.

The 930/940 shell stop can be very sensitive to magazine spring tension. We do not recommend using an HD spring in the 930/940.

The Versa Max Tactical comes factory-equipped with a Nordic Components extension assembly. Capacity may be added by swapping out to a longer extension tube or adding an additional tube with the use of the MXT Coupler.

The 2-round extension on the Competition Tactical can be replaced with our Mossberg extension nut (NUT-MB-12-00) and an MXT extension of any desired length.

Barrel clamps are not compatible with the factory magazine, due to the increased diameter of the carbon fiber sleeve.
